New buildings in a historic environment
The publication, published as an accompanying critical catalogue to the exhibition, will include studies on the topic of new buildings in the historical environment and a catalogue section.
The studies will address the issue of architectural interventions in the historic environment of towns and villages from a general perspective, explaining the importance of controlling and regulating development with a view to preserving awareness of the historical and cultural development of communities. Comparisons with examples and best practices from abroad, especially from countries in the European environment, will be appropriate. Experience from planned study trips at home and abroad will also be used to inform these assessments. A separate topic will also be a critical evaluation of thirty years of care for protected conservation areas in the Czech Republic.
In the catalogue part, selected buildings will be presented in detail as a representative sample of the buildings under study, with a characterization, analysis and evaluation of their contribution to the existing, historically given environment, both in large cities and in smaller municipalities.
Attention will be paid to buildings that can serve as a model example of a quality outcome that has resulted from a constructive dialogue between builders, architects, conservationists and local authorities.
