The main objective of the project is a methodology that formulates principles for the entry of new buildings built after 1989 into the historic environment. It builds on earlier work (Kuča, Kučová, 2004) and is based primarily on a representative field survey of new buildings constructed after 1989 in the historic areas of the Czech Republic.

The workshops (two are planned) will discuss a system for evaluating architectural interventions in terms of the urban context within the existing built environment, in accordance with the principles of conservation. The proposed principles will be consulted with the participating practising architects so that the methodology of contemporary architectural interventions in the historic environment as the main output will be a consensual result of the parties modelled to represent the participants in the building procedure.
